Radio Benziger became truly a peoples’ radio when it was persuaded to become the radio of the unemployed women, students and casual labourers who found in this medium an appropriate and much needed forum to break their silence and make their voice heard in public. The initial survey had identified the people living in the coastal villages of Quilon, chiefly the fishermen community as the target audience of this radio. However, as the broadcasting progressed a remarkable and spontaneous widening of the spectrum of ownership emerged spontaneously as a result of a perceptible demand from the people especially from women. The feedback from People which poured in through letters and telephone became a participatory process of decision making in the management of the radio from content generation to broadcasting.

Radiobenziger is found to be highly informative. There timely news, interactions with listeners is highly appreciated. I and my family listen to radiobenziger every day. But the signals are comparatively week in PARAVUR(Kollam) coastal area. Hence I request to strengthen the signals in these areas.
